What veneers may change
Porcelain veneers are thin restorations bonded to the front of selected teeth. They may be considered for changes in visible colour, shape, proportion, surface texture or small spaces when the teeth and bite are suitable.
Veneers are not the only way to change a smile. Whitening, bonding, orthodontic treatment or a restorative crown may be more conservative or more appropriate in some situations.

What happens during treatment
Some enamel is often reshaped to create room and a stable bonding surface. Records are sent for fabrication, temporary veneers may be used, and the final restorations are checked for fit, colour and bite before bonding.
Because enamel removal is generally irreversible, alternatives and expected maintenance should be understood before proceeding.

Caring for veneers
Veneers require the same daily plaque control as natural teeth. Avoid using the front teeth to open packaging or bite very hard objects, and discuss a protective appliance when clenching or grinding is a concern.
