COMMON QUESTIONS
General dentistry questions
Find answers about checkups, X-rays, treatment planning and keeping your teeth and gums healthy.
How often should I come in for a checkup?
The right interval depends on your oral health, existing dental work, medical history and risk factors. After an examination, your dentist can recommend a schedule that makes sense for you.
What happens during a regular dental visit?
A visit may include an examination, oral cancer screening, professional cleaning, X-rays when needed and time to discuss any changes or treatment recommendations.
Can my whole family come to the same dental office?
Yes. Excel Dental provides general dental care for children, adults and seniors, with each visit planned around the individual patient.
What if I feel anxious about dental treatment?
Tell the team when you book and again when you arrive. We can explain each step, agree on signals for breaks and discuss which comfort options may be appropriate for the planned care.
Will I need X-rays at every appointment?
Not necessarily. X-rays are recommended according to your symptoms, examination findings, age, dental history and the amount of time since earlier images were taken.
How are treatment options and fees discussed?
When treatment is recommended, the dentist explains the reason, reasonable alternatives, expected maintenance and what may happen without treatment. The office can then review the proposed fees and appointment sequence.
Can I ask about more than one concern at the same visit?
Yes. Mention all of your concerns when you book and at the appointment. The dentist can assess the priorities and explain whether everything can be addressed in one visit or needs a sequence.
What if a tooth feels fine but a problem appears on an X-ray?
Some cavities, infections and bone changes cause few symptoms at first. The dentist will show you the finding, explain how certain the diagnosis is and discuss reasonable monitoring or treatment options.
Can treatment be divided into stages?
Yes. When several areas need care, the plan can often be organized around urgency, tooth strength, comfort, time and budget.
